The O’Driscoll flag is raised at Cape Clear Distillery

Joe O'Driscoll receives an engraved bottle of 3 Sq Miles Gin

The O’Driscoll flag was raised for the first time at Cape Clear Distillery recently to welcome Joe O’Driscoll, resident of both California & Cape Clear Island. Joe has been an invaluable supporter, advisor and benefactor of the distillery. We can say, quite literally,  that every block used in the reconstruction has his name on it. It was a good opportunity to present him with only the second, specially commissioned O’Driscoll bottle every produced. The first of course was, quite fittingly, presented to the current Clan Chieftain, Marie Deese O’Driscoll. The motto which reads in Latin “Adversis immersasbilis undis” meaning “Unconquerable in stormy waters” is particularly appropriate since Joe is both a proud O’Driscoll and a former Marine Corps member.

There were both practical and ceremonial reasons for presenting Joe with the engraved bottle. Because, given his generous nature he donated previous bottles, received as gifts to a Veteran’s  Charity fundraiser where they raised a staggering $15,000. So, by hook or by crook we hope that Joe reserves this bottle for his own use.

It was good to see other O’Driscolls turn up for the occasion and we show from left, Joe O’Driscoll with shareholders Niamh Ní Drisceoil, also Chairperson of Cape Clear Coop, Séamus Ó Drisceoil, Manager and Patsi Ó Drisceoil who does our Quality Control.

Nach deas é nuair a thagann na Drisceolaigh le céile chun tionscnamh a chur i gcrích. Níl aon stopadh leo. Cléire abú.
