Cape Clear Island Distillery takes home two silver medals in London! We recently received great news for the distillery from the London Spirits Competition that both our 3 SQ. MILES Irish Island Gin and our recently-released Cask-Aged Gin got a silver medal at this year’s competition. Each achieving a score of 87 points, both products were in the top 20% of all entries in the gin category.
“It’s a great honor to be featured in such rare company,” said managing director Seamus Ó Drisceoil. “To be just three points off a gold medal is tough to see, but we are very happy with 87 points in a very competitive category. Two silver medals – that’s tough to beat.”
While our 3 SQ. MILES gin, in production since November of 2019, has been recognized at several international competitions, it’s the first time our cask-aged gin has entered a competition. Having spent six months in three different casks including virgin acacia and French oak ex-wine casks, this blend has been very well received among connoisseurs. This blend was expertly overseen by our esteemed distiller, Corentin Simon, who has a background in the French wine and spirits industries.
“This is only the beginning of the 2022 awards season,” says Seamus. “We have high hopes for future competitions in San Francisco and here in Ireland, but we’re absolutely thrilled with two sliver medals in London.” Follow the distillery on social media to keep up-to-date:
About the London Spirits Competition:
LSC looks to recognise, reward and help promote spirits brands that have successfully been created to identify with and target a specific spirits drinker. For any spirits brand to earn its place on a retailer’s shelf or a restaurant’s spirits list – and then vitally stay there – they need to be marketable and consumer-driven. That is why the London Spirits Competition is different. It singles out and shines a light on those spirits brands that consumers really want to buy and have value for trade buyers.
